I photographed this Great Blue Heron standing quietly along the mangroves of South Padre Island. It lifted one foot at a time with slow, deliberate focus as it searched the water for prey. The stillness, the soft water, and the tangle of mangrove roots all worked together to create a peaceful moment in time in South Texas.
